Intro

I am a Linux System Administrator with over 17 years of practical experience working with GNU/Linux systems and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). My journey with Linux began in 2008, and since that time I have been actively engaged in both professional and volunteer-based open source initiatives. These include system administration, scripting, automation, as well as translation and localization of FOSS projects into the Serbian language. By the way, check out my awesome work.

I am passionate about technology that empowers users, promotes transparency, and respects digital freedom. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy playing around with anything FOSS/open-source related.

My second love is physics: I studied physics and worked as a physics teacher in elementary and high schools. But my first and foremost love is my family: my beautiful wife and two boys.

Work

At present, I work as a Junior Linux System Administrator in a company that is focused on Free and Open Source Software. My responsibilities include:

  • Administration and maintenance of Linux servers (primarily Debian)
  • Writing automation and maintenance scripts using python and bash
  • Ensuring security, performance, and stability of production infrastructure
  • Supporting development teams and managing system integrations
  • Implementing and customizing open source solutions across various layers of the infrastructure

My technical skill set includes:

  • Advanced Linux system administration
  • Shell scripting and task automation
  • Configuration management (e.g. Ansible)
  • CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance (GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Networking and security fundamentals
  • Containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues

I also contribute to open source projects when time allows, and I am involved in translating and localizing Free Software into Serbian, helping make technology more accessible in my native language.

About

I believe that technology should be open, accessible, and empowering. Free and Open Source Software is more than just a collection of tools — it is a way of thinking and a community-driven movement that values openness, collaboration, and user autonomy.

Throughout my career and personal development, I have witnessed how open source can transform individuals, organizations, and entire communities. I see my role not only as a system administrator but also as a facilitator — someone who helps build infrastructure that serves people, not just systems.

I am committed to supporting and growing the FOSS ecosystem, whether through technical contributions, translations, mentorship, or simply by sharing knowledge and encouraging others to take part.
